Born On Instagram
Today we shared out quarterly results. People have shifted to mobile – it’s where they’re spending their time and connecting with the things that matter to them, including businesses. That’s why more and more marketers of all sizes are turning to Facebook and Instagram to reach their customers and grow. This quarter we announced that there are more than 4 million advertisers on Facebook and 500,000 on Instagram – the majority of whom are small and medium businesses.
One of my favorite examples from this quarter – Tom DeSernia’s outdoor gear and apparel brand SA Company was born on Instagram and grown on Facebook. While studying to become a dentist in 2011, Tom started marketing T-shirts on Instagram and fulfilling orders out of his parents’ house. He decided to pursue his passion full time, bringing on his childhood best friend Joe Trebitz as CMO. Together they’ve used Facebook to grow SA Company into a global brand of over 70 employees with customers in 50 countries.
